I just removed that annoying McAfee this week! It seemed that every week my computer would get slower and slower. I removed McAfee and it sped up. Not sure what the deal was.Anyhow, you can edit the scan to any time you desire!

It should be under scheduled scans. It could be an advanced option. It's been a while since I used mcafee.
McAfee is a bloated almost worthless POS program. It practically takes over your system. read this that I posted in another forum.

There are many so called antivirus programs out there.
Most of the FREE programs (and many of the paid ones) don't work well and give the user a false sense of security.
I have tested almost every Anti-Virus, Anti Malware, Anti Spyware program out there and have found the top 3 worthy of your consideration - in order of preference & detection performance.

3)DrWeb Cureit Dr.Web CureIt! — ??????? ????????? ?????????! ??????? ???????, ?????? ?????????? ?????????!
Dr.Web CureIt! detects and removes
* Rootkits * Mass-mailing worms * E-mail viruses * Peer-to-peer viruses * Internet worms * File viruses * Trojans * Stealth viruses* Polymorphic viruses * Bodiless viruses * Macro viruses * MS Office viruses * Script viruses * Spyware * Spybots * Password stealers * Keyloggers* Paid Dialers * Adware * Riskware* Hacktools * Backdoors * Joke programs * Malicious scripts * Other malware* (from mfgrs site)
These 3 have the best detection rates with minimum user impact.
Most Antivirus programs like, Avast, AVG, Adware, Spybot, Super Antispyware, even Norton... are practically worthless and slow your system down needlessly.
If you are careful in your surfing habits (have a firewall) and run at least one of these weekly - you should be ok.
So if your rig seems to be acting strangely or is feeling slower, you might want to try one of these programs to see if you have any infections.

Well, I just renewed my subscription. There's $50 bucks down the drain if I don't use it. Can I get my money back? Dang, I wish I knew it was that crappy otherwise I wouldn't have renewed.
I used McAfee for a while but then let my subscription run out and didn't have anything on my computer. BUT I recently downloaded the Microsoft Security Essentials and have had good luck with it.
