Going to do clean installs on two machines. One that used to be a Vista 64 bit, and the other will be a brand new system.

With Microsoft releasing their new OS on 22nd October, I've been wondering how many of us have upgraded or plan to upgrade in the future?
Are you going from XP to Windows 7 or from Vista to Windows 7?
Let us know your thoughts on Microsofts latest instalment.

To be honest with all of you, I would not touch Windows 7 with a ten foot pole.
My current operating system (Windows XP Proffesional Edition) has been released a long long time ago, but still leaves a lot to be desired (Stability Issues, crashes, poor utilization of resources, Blue Screen Of Death etc).
After all this years, Im still forced to download and install 10-15 updates, patches, fixes and god only knows what else, every week.
If that is the case with Windows XP, I shudder to think what would happen if I upgraded to Windows 7 right now.
Maybe in a year or two I will switch to Vista.

No, but I upgraded my mouse.
Still with XP. Not sure where I'm going next.

I'm a Mac user, so no need to upgrade windows for me. At my office where we use PCs, we're still running Vista. Nobody that I know is using 7 yet.
Welcome to UTC megkg
No offices (at least where I am) switched to vista, thankfully.
I'm tempted to get the new iMac in the new year. They are so nice.
I helped beta test it and it rocked from the first time I loaded it.
Going to St Louis tomorrow to a Win7, Server 2008 R2 launch party and getting a free copy.

I'm still running the rc version. I've a copy here, just haven't gotten around to installing it yet. I've got until march before it starts shutting down.
It's a great OS. I'm running 64bit Ultimate.
I have a MacBook pro and love it. I switched 5 years ago and will never go back. Project-Buckfest, you should definitely switch to the iMac. The software and hardware is all great. I never have any viruses at all. No problems.
You know the saying, once you go mac you never go back!
Welcome to the site brianna.
I've seen and tried Win7 from my friend's computer. It really looks great and easy to use. I think Win7 is like the usability of XP with the design of Vista. I guess they just combined the two previous OS and gave it a new name. But I'm still using XP, I might upgrade next year if my friend who is using Win7 have no problems with it.
Any word on how Win 7 uses memory?

I think that Vista was a complete disaster! Vista is the same thing to XP like Millennium was to 98 - just an unsuccessful experiment. Windows 7 will be 98's XP - it will make all things better in oppose to Vista.
Win 7 is everything vista should have been. Micro$haft just thought they'd rip us off some more before making us by something that actually works!
