Yeah, I've seen that before. Interesting what you can find with satellite imaging.

Hitler's San Diego bunker at a US NAVAL BASE
Navy officials said the resemblance to a Nazi swastika went unnoticed by the public for decades until the advent of Google Earth.
Watch the video and find this location yourself at Google Earth:

I read somewhere that they are going to transform the building with an extra roofing or something like that to
get rid of the nasty resemblense to Nazi swastika. But it sure is funny how they didn't give much attention to this
when the building was still in its planning stages...
Wow!, has anyone thought that the architect may have just taken into account lighting and wind effects leading to this coincidence?
Furthermore, I have heard very little to the effect of the symbol being older than Hitler.
* the quote is the intoduction at Wikipedia's Swastica explanation. The swastika (from Sanskrit svástika स्वास्तिक ) is an equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles, in either right-facing (卐) or left-facing (卍) forms. The term is derived from Sanskrit svasti, meaning well-being. The Thai greeting sawasdee is from the same root and carries the same implication.
There's a good reason for that - it doesn't really matter that the symbol's older than Hitler. Once Hitler appropriated it, he pretty much made it his for eternity. Do you honestly think a statistically significant number of people, upon seeing a swastika, think "Ah! Sanskrit!" or "this must be Thai?" No, everybody thinks Nazis, or neo-Nazis. Don't pretend you don't know that.Originally Posted by LaoziSailor

I concur with PyroniC up there. It doesn't matter if the symbol once stood/stands for something else,
because nowadays pretty much everyone connects it to the Nazis.![]()
Heh. Here in Finland the symbol of our air force still has a swastika in it btw, but it was there before
the Nazi party ever came to power. Just tossing in some more trivial info.
