firewall with dc++

hi am new to this ,question is, to obtain music from DC++
it tells you to dissable xp firewall!is this ok with all the virus alerts about?

it should be fine, but make sure to replace it with a better firewall such as zonealarm (http://www.zonelabs.com)

Going with hardware firewall (I think linksy has good one) is not bad idea either. Its pretty secure and mapping ports for p2p progies is really easy.
