new programes

hi folks
2 questions! have just formatted my pc xp home i would like to know how to get rid of the : new programes added: message in the start menu, also when dowloading xp updates they all go into the add/remove folder and there getting quite congested is this normal?

For New Programs:
Start/Control Panel/Apperance & Themes/Taskbar & Start Menu/Start Menu/Customize/Advanced....Un-Check...Highlight Newly Installed Programs.

I forget the command for the Balloon Tips, but if you run this program you can turn it off.
