Whats the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R?

Technically, nothing. But if your hardware specifys one or the other, I would look for that particular format. Just to be safe.

From what I've heard the dvd-r is the one you want to use if you have an older dvd player.

Actually, Technically DVD-R has addressing accomplished by marking sections of the disk, whereas DVD+R has addressing accomplished by varying the wobble frequency of the track groove.
DVD-R has a constant linear velocity, whereas DVD+R has a constant angular velocity.
But that's technical jargon.
All you really need to know is that DVD+R is better. It can write Dual Layer, meaning each disk can hold twice as much. DVD-R can't. The end.

That makes me feel better, The DVD+r is what we buy, but I figured if there were 2 there had to be some sort of difference LOL!
