yah mine are very similar to that :(

SOMETIMES i get a 50Kb/sec send from someone, but doesn't seem like thats frequently..

yep, that's why i don't like G1, G2, or donkey network programs =p

It really depends on what network the file's on, and how many sources.

If it's on ED2k, unless you have a few thousand sources, you're likely to get those kinda speeds for the whole file.

If it's on G2 (Or G1, for that matter) and there are a few dozen sources which are active, you'll likely hit 50-100KBps easy.

Just go to Shareaza's website, and download the program via magnet link if you don't believe me.

I get some pretty decent dl rates every now and then. But usually it won't go any higher than 10kbs on average. The thing I hate about it all is the stupid long queue lists! Sometimes I wait hours before it will start downloading. And even then, the downloading most of the time doesn't continue very long.

No, it's not that. I use it and always get those results. That's why I get my files more often from other places and not there.

I felt that Mike would have been better served to continue to develop G2 than to try to make Shareaza all things to all people. That seldom works imho. Leave ED2K to the mule and the donkey, and build G2 into something special. But, no one asked me did they. :D ;)

I agree also, i wish eDonkey and BT support was not added, it takes a lot of time for one person to try and keep up with eDonkey and BT while trying to improve Gnutella2. The only network i ever enable on shareaza is G2 becuase if i dont eDonkey/eMule clients just swanp my upload queue and i want to help G2 grow.

Trust me, RB, you ain't the only one who feels like that :(

remember ed2k is opensource.

he probably just adds the ed2k object code to shareaza. he only needs to add the code.

so i guess he is still concentrating on g2

ED2k isn't open source. It isn't even technically an open protocol.

eMule, the most used client on ED2k is open source, however, but since it's under the GPL, Mike can't simply take the code (From what I understand, he codes everything from scratch). I doubt, however, that he's worried about improving either protocol, simply adding good support (There are some glitches currently with both ED2k and BT, but those are being worked on).

After support for both is caught up on, I don't imagine it'd be much work to maintain, and you must admit the prospect of swarming across ED2k and G2 and BT is nice (Swarming across BT is currently not working. Supposedly it's in the works though...).

yes but since emule is opensource. as far as i know, gpl means that the source code can be used as long that it is mentioned it is taken from that program/s

Shareaza with G2 was amazing! I would get speeds between 500Kb/s to 1,000Kb/s...And i'm correct in my capitalizations. But with edonkey it's sooo slow. It's sad. But G2 kicked ass. Also it's good with G2 and G1 enabled, don't use the edonkey portion IMHO.

Yes, unfortuntely shareaza just isn't what it used to be

I rarely use it anymore, because of its horrible speeds

G2 alone kicked major ass, now shareaza sucks and I'm sorry but I just had to say it

You realize you can elect to not use the ED2k network, right?

G2 is still a vibrant and active network. In fact, the new Shareaza clients are increasing G2's users (ED2k is a big draw for many, after all), so it's still getting better.

(There are a bunch of 'Raza users who don't use ED2k, from what I can tell)

Wow. I totally sound like some PR guy. Smack me around, will ya? :D

Fortunately, you are not the typical "fanboy" there FG. Your opinions are typically based in reasoned thought, and not emotion. ;)

Yea, but even with Edonkey disabled it's still not the same.

FryGuy should be banned for being a fanboy..delete all his posts and kick him out. ;) No what you said was ok. -Matt
