I use Star Downloader. Does what it needs to do, and it is freeware.
Check it out here (www.stardownloader.com).
Flashget. Although not completely free, its more stable and full featured than star downloader, and many others on the market. Allows you to set referrers and such, and could download movies off of sites if configured properly.

Lightning Download is really kickass but its shareware. But very powerful...just be sure to have some free cpu power when doing multiple downloads.

i barely have a use for a download accelerator. I mean, how often do you download huge files from http sites? p2p baby! but anyway, i still use DAP. I mean, it's still good and not too hard to find a "fix" for it ;] I like it better than star downloader and the rest, but that's just my opinion.
