Since we all seemed to be enjoying the debunking of Urban Myths and such, I thought I would bring back a game we enjoyed last time around. Ask 5 questions, and the first person to get all 5 correct, or whoever gets the most of the 5 correct first, gets to ask the next 5 questions. Categories: music, movies, TV, politics, geography, or whatever, so long as it is in good taste. I will go first, so here goes:
1) What was the first name that "Simon and Garfunkel" went by?
2) There was an Urban Myth from the middle 1970's that said that a young women was murdered during the recording of a song by a certain group. You were supposed to be able to hear her screaming during the song as she was being killed. What was the song and who was the group?
3) What was the real first name of John "The Duke" Wayne?
4) There were only 2 movies in which John "The Duke" Wayne appeared in, in which he was killed in the movie. What were those 2 movies?
5) Alan Hale Jr. played "The Skipper" on Gilligan's Island. What was "The Skipper's" real name?
Ok, those were easy. I didn't look them up either, I drew from what is left of my once great memory. (lol) Old Timer's disease is taking it's toll. :(
Any takers?

1: Tom and Jerry
2: "Love Rollercoaster" by the Ohio Players (Fittingly in the movie "Urban Legends")
3: Marrion Morrison
4: I could've sworn it was more and, by golly, when I looked it up I found this (http://wso.williams.edu/orgs/trivia/BOMO76/supers/filmans.html) site. The movies which he died in are listed as: Central Airport; Reap the Wild Wind; The Fighting Seabees; Wake of the Red Witch; The Sands of Iwo Jima; The Alamo; The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance; The Cowboys
(If it's any consolation, I only remembered The Fighting Seabees, Wake of the Red Witch, and The Alamo...)
5: Jonas Grumby. His best bud is, of course Willie Gilligan. They're stuck on an Island with Ginger Grant, Thurston and Lovey Howell, Mary-Anne Summers, and Roy Hinkley.
Yes, I do have way too much junk in my head ;)

A man after my own heart! I guess I was mistaken about the Duke. I thought that the only 2 were "Sands of Iwo Jima" and "The Cowboys", (I can't believe that I forgot "The Alamo" ) so I learned something. Ok FrYGuY, you get the next 5. :)

1: When Joseph Priestley discovered oxygen, what did he call it? (Hint, not Oxygen)
2: Why did he name it that?
3: What is the fastest airplane in the world, and when did it enter service? (Bonus: When did it RETIRE, BOTH times ;) )
4: What football team earned the reputation as a second-half team with the invention of a now famous drink? (Bonus: What year was it invented?)
5: While Edward Norton's character in Fight Club remains without name through the entire movie, he is commonly ascribed a name, used throughout the movie. What is that name? (Bonus: What name is he given in the credits?)

1)dephlogisticated air
2)based on the phlogiston theory (the idea that combustion was essentially the process of losing a hypothetical substance known as phlogiston)
3)SR-71 --I think it entered service in 1978 .It first retired in 1989 then again 2002
4)Florida Gators
5)Jack and in the credits it was and I think the credits say The Narrator as Ed Norton's character name

BlueTailFly got it mostly right...
Phlogisten was supposedly a substance which inhibited combustion, hence Oxygen which readily supported combustion, was "dephlogisticated".
The SR-71 was retired in 1990, reentered service in 1994, and retired again 1998. At least those are the years I remember...
And the Bonus for #4, Gatorade was invented in 1965.
BlueTailFly, you got next!
