This may not count, but my new GE portable phone I got at Wal-Mart yesterday doesn't work, so I'm about to take it back and get a new one. I have bad luck with portable phones. I followed all the instructions, charged it for the recommended 12 hours, tried to program it, and I get nothing, not a dial-tone or anything.:(

One of my harddrives got corrupted beyond repair last week. Not only did I lose 15 gigs of stuff (well techincaly seven since half of the stuff was burned to CD's) but also the harddrive broke down only week AFTER the 3 year warrenty expired!

I guess I'll be downlaoding my butt off to get the stuff back.

Getting power, losing power, getting it back. Stupid blackout. Had to throw out hundreds of dollers of food (and eating hundred dollers worth of it too). Fried my xp harddrive, so my new computer is screwed. Worked all day trying to translate and recode a shoutbox from swedish to english, to find out my ftp password is wrong. Can't access the site. I'm abandoning everything.

Dixie Chicks wrapped up the North American leg of their "Top of the World Tour" last night at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary, AB Canada. Throughout the last three months, the Chicks have played to over 1 million
people and pulled in $61 million in ticket sales making them the top grossing country tour of the year.

The tour will make stops in Europe and Australia throughout September and October. Shows in Stockholm, Manchester and London are already sold out.

Lets see...a few of my so called friends ditched me last night. We were going to go to the movies, and I told them I needed to run home, get my car, and grab some money. They said ok, we'll meet you at so and so's house. So I go home get money, my car, and tell my parents whats going on. Head over to this guys house, and all of them are gone. Checked at everyone elses houses and they were no where to be found. Yep, they went to the movies without me.

Then, one of them today IM'd me and basically flipped out because last thursday, a group of us went into town, and he brought a long a girl from work. Well we were in a store and said to her that she should try on this one skirt (and no it wasn't like all slutty/erotic). She said sure, and grabbed it and tried it on. This guy freaked out and got pissed off at me and my friend. And I'm just now hearing about it, over the IM!

And last but not least, a lot of my friends are giving me a lot of crap about my choice in the girls that I like. I'm almost afraid to even mention it here, because of fear that I will get more flak for it. But I will take my chances, because I need to get it off my chest.

This is how I work. My age limit for girls is 4 years younger than me, or 4 years older. So I'll date someone as young as 15 or someone as old as 23 (you do the math). But at the current moment, there is one girl that I really really like, who maybe 14. And my friends are calling me a pedophile for liking her, and how my age limit thing works. They also call me a dirty old man. I hear this all the time from them, and I am given flak by others for this as well. I'm almost to my breaking point with it all. I just want to drop to my knees and cry, not only out of sadness but also out of anger.

That's my life at the moment.

Well I was a 14 yr old w/ a 19 yr old boyfriend ten years ago and now we are married and pretty happy . I can only say that as I don't want this to get really taken out of hand for the whole age / sex thing.

Play the cards you see fit to play, just keep in mind that her parents may have a whole lot to say and do.:)

hehehe well, I was 14 when I started dating my husband and he was 21. I guess I was really mature for my age, but I was also not sexually active with him. not for the next 4 yrs.

Now that I am a mother of 2 girls I would probly have a cow if they brought home a boyfriend 6 yrs older, or even 5 yrs....but I have I question, you said she MAY be 14 does this mean you dont know? and will she turn 15 before you turn 20?

Well, I'm not gonna limit myself to one day!

In Jan. I ordered a new landscape truck. Was supposed to have a 14' dump bed and the fabricator puts a 12' bed on it.

In March a part time employee who worked for me for 9 days, forges 2 checks worth $400. When the supermarket he passed them at threatens to press charges against him, he calls me up and threatens to steal some of my tools if I don't pay the checks and charges. I called the cops who straightened things out.

Also in March, the weather warmed up to the upper 80's low 90's causing the grass to start growing, so I had to start mowing weekly a full 1-2 months early this year. This cost me thousands of dollars in lost billable hours.

In June ( I think, things are starting to get fuzzy at this point) my lawn tractor catches fire and burns completely.

Throw in a customer along the way who refuses to pay me for the most beautiful waterfall I have ever built, forcing me to knock $800 off his bill and probably every single power tool I own being either repaired or replaced/or repaired then replaced and you are starting to get the picture of what my year has been like.

And BTF, the situation you describe is SOP for me. I always joke (though it really isn't a joke) that I have to retrain you guys every Monday.

Like a good buddy of mine always used ta say "It ain't easy bein me......."

OK lil_amb, here goes. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hmmmm, hows come I don't feel better?????? shoot, story of my life....................

Ok, i'm laying new carpet atm, the 'old' one, came with the house i bought 4 yrs ago.
So i've been busy cleaning out the living room for 2 days, emptying al the cupboards, moving all the furniture, and have an empty living room by now.
When i started removing the old carpet, the first few meters where easy, after ¼ of it, i found out, the rest is glued to the floor (concrete), completely stuck, so, what should have taken me one day, old out, new in, will now take me at least 4-5 days.
Been working on it with a few friends for a whole day, and we only have ¼ of the glued part removed and clean.

Ever tried removing old bits and pieces of carpet+carpetglue from a concrete floor?

:mad1: :mad2: :mad1: :mad2: :mad1: :mad2: :mad1:

rastagard
08-23-2003, 06:33 AM
Yea Wobbel, I can sympathize with ya. My house is over 50 years old and the previous owner was Cheap, with a capital "C". He paneled the whole house using the cheapest paneling known to man. In our front sitting room he used some paneling that was wood grain printed on particle board. The printing was even out of register so it looked blurry and you could see the different color seperations. Well under this stuff was genuine tongue and groove old Florida Clear Pine. Absolutely gorgeous wood! I proceeded to start pulling this cheap paneling off and as I got further and further into the job I realized he had really glued it to the good pine. Being particle board it would just disintegrate into little chips and sawdust, making pulling any kind of chunk off impossible. I finally had to break out my torch and soften the glue and work a putty knife under it and sloooooowly scrape it off bit-by-bit. I still have a corner alcove that has little bits still stuck...................

I have found in my business that homeowner concrete jobs are the worst. If you're lucky they totally botch it up and the concrete breaks up easily. But just as often they decide "ya can't reinforce it enough" and load it up with all kinds of steel reinforcing. I did a job this year where the former homeowner had built a real rinky-dink waterfall the new owner wanted me to redo. The slab we had to remove varied from less than an inch thick to about 8 inches thich and was reinforced with coat hangers!

Good luck with your project, I could go on and on with horror stories, but I'll stop here...........................

Ohhhh ugh @ Wobbel....that REALLY sucks. What about getting like a spray bottle of soapy water and spraying down the carpet? Sorry thats all I had in my head LOL

Ok all I have decided to really show my true colors by posting this , so I truly hope everyone gets one heck of a laugh.

8-27-03 6 pm or so I decide that I'm going to be brave and DL Norton off of Kazaa (first mistake)
I do this and everything is wonderful it says my Trojan was found and that all is well(ya right)
Well as we all know we must reboot so I do that, when startup comes up it tells me that I need to change C: to C:1 I hit no......
Anyways I have NO idea WTF happened but I could not get into anything , all its saying is that none of my files etc could be found.
Ok so I think hmmmmm virus = Restore CD = close but no cigar!
When I insert the disk its saying your drives are located on disk 2 I say ok and in goes disk 2 ....I cannot get it to do anything.

Well.........I decide to call Feenie because Feenies-wife is at work and he's a pretty smart cookie.....he cant help me.

I then call Emachines Tech Support and BOOM!!!!!!!!!!

I most likely did have a virus ...yes of course but, I was concerned w/ the Restore CD not working?????????

{I DIDN'T TURN THE PC OFF BEFORE PUTTING THE CD IN}

in conclusion I am blonde!

Carrie
08-27-2003, 10:52 PM

I am cracking up! See feenie told her how to use the quick restore disk ASSUMEING SHE KNEW TO SHUT OFF THE PC AND START IT UP WITH THE DISC IN IT!!!!!!! LOL I am so cracking up!!!

Don't feel bad amb.......last week when our phone was finallllllly turned on, my husband plugs the phone line into the wall. He spends the next 30 minutes screaming and yelling that i had screwed up the computer because it would not connect to net. HAHAHA he forgot to put the other end in the pc.
Then two nights ago, he wants to use printer, won't print, same thing, cable not connected to pc....he was soooooo sure I had done something again. Hahaha......really funny since I have to explain to him at least 3 times a week the difference between .doc & .xls to .sxw &.sxc and why his boss can not open the latter two

I just have to rant. Why can people know what they are using when it comes to computers? I don't ask much, and I don't expect them to have the skills of any one of us cows, but just a basic (and I mean basic) understanding of the tools they use to get there jobs done.

I mean does a crane operator just get in, and start throwing switches and pulling levers?

As you may or may not know I do PC tech support, and all the crazy stories you hear are true. Here is an example from today, dealing with an e-mail user.

Question: What e-mail program do you use?
Answer: I don't know, but it uses an inbox.

Question: What does the icon on your desk top display before you click on it?
Answer: I don't know, but it is the one on the left side and I double click on it.

Remind me why I hate Mondays.

I know what a bad day is...BELIEVE ME!

a bad day is waking up, jumping out of bed, puking your guts out...every day for 3 weeks, while your abdomen swells up and makes you look like you are 8 months pregnant, but you feel like if you could just FART REALLY BIG you would feel MUCH better.

The REALLY bad day:

So you go to a doctor, who makes you go to the ER, and they make you drink shit that smells really good, but tastes like your drinking strawberry banna milk thats sat out all day, and been re-chilled, and you have to drink 4 of them over a span of an hour, then you get wheeled into a tunnel, and told not to look directly into the little red light that is shining directly into your eye. Then your told, No you don't have gas...your appendix is missing.... Then your told that you have to go under the knife, it will only take an hour, it will be a little inch long insision, and you will be out of the hospital the next day.
Then your taken in, knocked out, and after 3 hours of a surgery, you wake up with 17 staples in your gut, which should have been 2 little stiches, and a tube hanging out of a hole as big around as a pencile, that has to be drained every 15 minutes. you are told that you died more than once on the table, You are told you can't have anything to eat or drink for the next 48 hours, you wont be getting out of the hospital the next day, your going to be there for 3 days, and the Doctor wont let you smoke because its bad for your health....

well guess what...so is dieing....and seems how I did that more than once that day, I managed to stay alive through 3 weeks of a burst appendix, worked everyday for 12 hours a day for those 3 weeks,...I think I earned the right to take a PUFF!

Now, hows that for a bad day?

LMFAO!

How about having your car stolen from infront of your house and even though you sent your kids to the bus out the front door you didn't notice the car being gone until you get a phone call from the Ill State Police telling you it's been stolen?

OR

Having a Benefit for a woman you THINK is your very good friend and her daughter because both are SUPPOSE to be very ill and then come to find out she was lying about the whole GD thing? Getting investigated by the ILL State Police for 4 weeks b4 they ever go talk to that fuckin bitch!!! Yea....I think that consists of a bad 4 weeks so that's 28 DAYS!
