SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- A rapper surrendered Friday to face allegations that he stabbed a man who had punched hip-hop superstar Dr. Dre during the taping of a music awards show, authorities said.
Lt. Frank Fabrega said rapper Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, had turned himself in, but provided no further details. Defense attorney Scott Leemon said the rapper would post the $500,000 bail.

I'm not at all surprised by this. though most of the rappers just claim to have done major prison time (Snoop Dogg did almost do time for a murder), most only sing about it. Yeah, I have gotten lost in LA, while driving my younger siblings home from DisneyLand, and realize it is a very rough place after dark. And, I only got lost in East LA so had to say "yo no soy puta" a lot.
To get a lick in on Dre would bring about not only a real war, since he has been the operating force behind many of the new stars, and some of the olders--50Cent, Eminem, Snoop, just to name a few.
all I could think of was that it was nuts that a man of Dre's status would have so little in the way of securtiy. But, when I read the name Suge Knight, and that he had actually been released, I wasn't at all surprised. It's hard to operate a major record company from behind bars, but he was alleged to have been behind much violence in the music world. Whether or not he was actually the man who did in Tupac Shakoor will never be really known, though Snoop made a statement that he knew Knight was the killer. The way the bullets flew with that, it is hard to say.
That murder would be used to boost a rivalry between rappers and a publicity stunt to boost record sales is rather sick. I would bet now that something occurs with another of Dre's artists and Suge is mysteriously in the background.
Even though I was in prison for a while, I will say that many of the people in there truly deserved to be there. And, i was no angel either. At times I thought I was the only person there because they were just plain guilty. Suge is one of those people that IMO should never be allowed congress with anyone through written or spoken word, and never see this side of the fence.
