NEW YORK (Elton John Fans Website) - Elton John will be writing a series with ABC about an aging rock star and the people round him! He will play a feisty rock star in a new half-hour TV comedy - but he insists the character is not based on himself. John is working with producers Michael Edelstein (Desperate Housewives) and Cindy Chupack (Sex and the City) to develop the show for ABC.
The "Rocket Man" says the show will poke fun at musicians he's encountered during his 30-year career, including Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger and Freddie Mercury.
The 57-year-old said: "It's not about me, but about everybody we've encountered over the past 30 years. We've met every star and seen every misbehavior. And it's about the people around the star, who have to put up with them. It's an upmarket Spinal Tap.
I think it will be one of the funniest things on TV in a while."
