Sygate all the way! :) I have used both zonealarm and kerio, Zonealarm is too bloated and doesent have as many features i like. Kerio on the other hand is nice but i better becous i dont think kerio is as stable (the beta release).

Sygate is the best firewall by far. I have used both zone alarm and kerio and sygate is far more effective than either of them. Its also far more stable and has avoided the bugs that many of the last several versions of zone alarm have had. It seems that some versions of zone alarm will block everything and not allow you on the internet (this happened to me)and others open your computer wide to everyone (this happened to a friend) . I have never had any problems with sygate.

Have to say buddie im a Norton man myself. Its the best ive tried and I think Zone Alam stinks fairly popular though not for me. Norton consumes a lot of RAM e.t.c but if your PC is up-to-date then Norton all the way my friend

using Sygate at this time and have been for a while and have had no major problems to date. I have tried others in the past, Zone alarm for one and after a system crash soon after installation I removed it. "Wise men make proverbs, but fools repeat them."- Samuel Palmer

Kerio seems to fit me the best v2.1.5 I depend on my router for the majority of issues. Sygate "pro" is just overkill for what I need but I like it and used it before I installed the router. Kerio is small and effective not as hard on the resources as Sygate and especially ZA.

Sygate Pro is imo the best, if it had the ability to block ads and URL's it would be absolutely perfect!!
I've tried both ZA (v3.XX) and Norton's but until now my fav is definantely Sygate's.
well they could also improve the interface but that's only a minor thing for us n00bs :)

I used to be an avid NIS fan. It started causing problems, but i dealt with them until they reached a critical level. I was reluctant to use anything else, but I was forced to. I finally decided on ZA Pro and i think it's much better than norton was. If i could be converted, you could be converted too :P

I use Sygate and am very happy with it. With Sygate you can add IPs that you want blocked, so i just get the RIAA IP list from peer guardian and import it into sygate:)

My choice is Kerio for my PC and Norton Internet Security for the PC my wife and daughters use.
My router handles the inbound stuff pretty good and the software firewalls handle the outbound filtering.
I use NIS on the family pc for its parental controls...that and the fact i paid 70$ for it. :)
Kerio is free for personal use.

i has used black isce norton sygate and ZA
and i must admit the one i found the best was sygate by far even though it has a basic interface it is v.good

Been using Sygate for a long time now, very good and user friendly
hey LD havent seen u in a while nice to see u bk at UTC
My favourite is Kerio PF but I tried Sygate and ZoneAlarm too.
There are lots of reasons why i like it: It lets you define every single detail of what an program can do (quite long to configure though), it's stable, uses little resources, you can import ips to filter, it's free.
ZA tried to block all my internet activity (and it's long to put it back up...) even if i ddn' t ask it so a day i had enough and i deleted it for good.
Sygate was too generic. I want to know what tries to connect to which ip and to which port.;)
Kerio is surely the most complete (at least in my opinion) even if it has to be well configured or it will pop up continuosly or prevent your apps from working properly.
Surely it's not a family firewall...

I have McAfee VirusScan 7.0 It comes with a firewall. It has never let me down. It's also real easy to configure. Kind of set it and forget it. The visual trace is nice too.

Still like Sygate Personal Firewall Pro.
Am not sure how good is Agnitum Outpost or Kerio

Tiny Firewall Pro 6 (http://www.tinysoftware.com/home/tiny2?s=3543475472132132800A3&offer=&pg=main)
Blocks it all, not for starters, has a learning curve, but works great.
Perfect for protecting your pc, in combination with NOD32 AV. (http://www.nod32.com/products/products.htm)
I Use BitDefender pro It Hasnt let Me dOwn

I had Black Ice, set it all the way up on the most paranoid level and just got sick of seeing all the stuff that was coming at it. I think Blaster was out at that time, and I would have like over 900 hits a day.
I finally decided on a dLink exterior firewall that also serves as a router. It was really inexpensive since it was on store sale and apparently they frequently run rebates for them. I got there at that time.
Nothing comes through that--well except once. But I have disabled IE in my windows add and remove. No problems since then while using firefox. And that doesn't have any popups for me so far.
I( highly recommend an ext firewall to everyone. Great investment and I can still dl.
