Okay, I need help, my stupid computer for some reason refuses to download anything! It won't download http, ftp, it simply won't download anything except partially downloaded webpages. It has done this since last night and I'm thinking I'm going to have to FDISK if it doesn't stop. I can't think of why it's doing this. I ran antivirus, so it isn't that.

My system is Windows 98se, 600mhz celeron, 256mb ram, realtek NIC card, toshiba pcx1100 cable modem.

is your firewall blocking anything?

what browser are you using?
if you are using Opera,go to file-->preferences-->File Types and make sure you have all the file types associated(i.e. .zip and .exe files check the "show the download dialog" or for html "open with opera")

I'm not sure but if you are using Mozilla I think you have to do the same thing thing(don't know how though)

If you areusing Explorer you could try going to tools-->Internet Options-->programs and click on the "Reset web settings" button. That might do the trick

Well thanks for all the help you guys tried to offer me, but I spent over an hour earlier today reformatting and reloading everything and now it's back to normal. Also, I still don't know what caused it exactly, but I had IE and Mozilla on my computer, and neither one would download anything, and I uninstalled my firewall (Kerio) but that didn't help. I also thought it was my NIC card but I swapped it out and it still wouldn't cooperate, so I don't know what the problem was.

I also tried to reset IE, but that didn't do anything either, I just hope it doesn't do this again anytime soon.

The problem with a download accelerator would have been that I would have had to 'download' the download accelerator, but it wouldn't let me download anything.
