AN INTERVIEW with Dell CEO Kevin Rollins has extracted some comments from him about his neighbour AMD and its range of microprocessors.
The interview, on news.com, has Rollins grudgingly admitting that AMD has improved at producing technology.
But he said there are hurdles to jump before the Great Satan of Hardware would contemplate putting AMD's "brains" into its machines.

Personally, I would take AMD over Intel any day. I have had both and now, I stick strictly to AMD. If its not AMD, I won't buy it. But thats just me:)

I remember, 4 years ago, if you wanted a cool, stable chip, you wanted an Intel. What little performance gaines AMD had over Intel were usually lost by the fact that if you didn't clean the dust out weekly you ran the risk of it overheating... and forget about overclocking an AMD unless you had Water cooling...
Now... AMD is not only faster, but it's actually cooler too. Sad, sad Intel.
If they want true 800 FSB then Dell is going to have to wise up. Intel is so busy concentrating on post processor speed that AMD has the jump on them with the 64 bit processing.
In translation, AMD has the most stable speed on the planet. Pentium may reach those higher processor speeds, but they crap out left and right. Who wants to fork up 300 Slave Bills for a new processor every few months if you want the best out of your computer like me.

I agree that AMD is way better than Intel. I have an Athlon XP 2500+ and my aunt and uncle recently got a Compaq with an Intel 520 800fsb, 1mb L2 cache chip, and I think it's slower than mine, it even has a serial-ATA hard drive and it still can't compete.
