He was a geek. A nerd. In junior high school, Richard Gere was not exactly the guy who got the girl.

His mother thought she found a solution -- he would take dance lessons and wow them at the junior high prom.

"I remember my teacher's name was Jack Gronow," Gere said. "He was the ballroom guy. I was short and the girls in class were about two heads taller. I remember being twirled around the room by these much larger girls just feeling horrible about myself."

The man who swore he had never danced professionally when he began the Oscar-winning film "Chicago" a few years ago can't seem to keep his feet still these days.

I love Richard Gere. I think he is poised and the work he does for the disenfranchised Tibetans is great.
I thought i heard he used to be a broadway player and had to do a bit of dancing there. I have a good friend who runs a theatre troupe here and loves it so much that all his kids are named after actors/actresses.

Yup, Tibetan Buddism is a great philosophy. I prefer it even to regular Zen Buddism or Taoism. Though, all those are great if you study them.
He does work constantly to raise money for the Tibetans who were thrown out of their homeland or slaughtered by the Chinese years ago.
