could utc possibly host a few BT files? Not actually have the file there, but have a the .torrent link hosted here? I mean, isn't it feasible since users can append files to their posts?
If we really needed to, we could add a .txt or .rar ending so that it'd let us post it, and then once we got it on our harddrives, we'd delete the .txt or .rar part leaving just the .torrent. ...or even better; the .torrent extension could be added to the list of file types that could be posted : )
Or would this potentially yield some sort of lawsuit against utc?

p.s., I'm thinking of this as also a way to spread general non-illegal files also, like files that are simply too large to be posted to a thread. The poster could create the torrent file, leave it open so that people could connect to him/her, and then s/he'd post the link here. Just earlier someone was talking about a freeware program and then had to edit their post saying that they couldn't add it because it was too big. Problem: solved.

Sorry bud, no can do. No Bit Torrent Files hosted here at all, even legal ones. We don't host ED2K files either. Linking to Bit Torrent or ED2K sites is ok though. But no Warez or crack sites can be linked to.

We were kicked off of a server last time for simply hosting Dr. Damn's Clean Grokster. We do this for fun, and that causes too many hassles. ;)

How does Dr. Damn's own website stay online then?

Grokster got him kicked off line before, that is why we volunteered to host it for him. Grokster seems to have double standards shall we say.

I am pleasantly suprised that he has maintained his current site.......

Technically you could host or anyone could host the source code for the program (if it's hosted in america). It would fall under freedom of speech. I believe they did the same thing with the DECCSS (the dvd decoding code) with t-shirts. It was/is illegal to have the program compiled, but as long as it was still text its freedom of speech. They would print it on shirts and sell them off. This way you could order one and just copy it in.
