I've heard about the 'good ol' days' of the 'old unitethecows'
What was so great about it, why was it discontinued, and how is it different from what we have now?

Too long of a story to tell completely. (lol)

Suffice it to say, that Unite (the founder/owner) did what he had to do at the time, in the best way he knew how. He had health problems, and needed a break. Now, feeling refreshed and much better, he decided to give it another whirl. The thing that made UTC such a great place, both then and now, is a great staff, and fabulous community. It is the community that makes any site great, and UTC is a shining example of that fact. We will be as great this time around, as you, the folks who come here to hang out and share your knowlege and experiences, will make it. :)

The Piolet forums are located at P2P Forums (www.p2pforums.com), and many of the old gang are there as well. Hopefully, JiMi, Jaba, Pablo and the rest will keep us all updated on the next Piolet, which I hear will be great!

ah the good ol days

i was not a member here for long before the site was closed but i loved it the fist post i made i got a quick response and helpful info that is what i love here at utc sure i miss some of the ppl who are not here now (most stayed at PCTT) but it is the same staff and comunity which make UTC the most moooriffic place about :thumbsup:

Sure I miss the old UTC. I missed it while it was down. But the spirit never died. I voted out wit da old, in wit da new because I think UTC will always be good, but I look for it to become even better in the future. I don't dwell in the past I live for tomorrow.

no, they got deleted when blub 2.5 came out. :( even after piolet came out, i used to stop by there once every few days to see if anyone had come around.

I miss the old UTC, but I don’t want to be an ass and try to put down the new one. It was all so much simpler back then. There where no problems with people being ‘left’ somewhere, or members gone missing. It was all just one happy place, and everyone loved it.

I don’t blame anyone for it’s merge/demise, and I don’t want to stir up any sour feelings here. I just needed to get this off my chest, vent a little steam maybe. I know it may seem kind of lame, but when I noticed I had this screen shot saved from the night we broke the “most users online,” I remembered what it was like. Here, in this pic, I see all the awesome people that made that site what it was, my friends and their friends, all in one very cool setting.


This knew Unite The Cows is a good place, and I mean that. But I look at it much more as a completely separate site. Another cool place to hang out, but not as UTC. This site is very cool, but for me at least, it’s just another place.dont streach the tables-Fister

I understand your feelings darktiger, but the new UTC can be everything that the old one was, and more. It all depends on what we, the members put into it. It won't happen overnight, as the old UTC wasn't built overnight either. When I joined the old UTC back in April of 2002, there were around 4000-5000 members. We grew to over 30,000 in less than a year. Things change, members come and go. It is the way of life. It is how we handle the changes that really matter. We have some really graet plans for UTC. It just takes a little time to get things done sometimes. Hang around, you might be pleasantly suprised. ;)

i never thought i would find myself agreeing with darktiger before...but i look at a lot like he does. when i think back to the old utc days, i remember how much fun i had. and when i think of utc now, it just doesnt seem the same in my mind. it just seems like another forum to stop by once in a while. dont get me wrong, i like the new utc, and maybe one day it will be like old times again...but for right now, i think p2pforums is my favorite substitute for the old utc days...

IMHO, the community used to be a lot more wholesome. Things were going pretty slow before we made the mistake of instating the ultimate loser as an admin.

And then, well, I was involved in trouble for UTC, lost my position, then this certain person continued causing trouble to UTC. Collectively I think he and I caused a lot of trouble for this blessed community.

Intimidated, I feel the same way...I also said some things in the heat of the moment that I regret. Although I didn't hold any positions or even regard myself as important here, I lost my privilege to come to UTC because of "someone's" advice. Thanks to UNITE and the whole admin staff, I'm allowed back in ... I can't tell them enough how grateful I am. I remember the old UTC days....they were great! But I do believe that the new UTC can be just as much fun and just as uplifting as before. Take punkprincess, skittles, and shaney for example...they're already back up to taking threads hostage! IT'S GREAT!!

Well..........I was only here maybe a week b4 and personally I don't see any problems in here at all I think its a pretty layed back kinda place w/ many ppl here to help one another out.If at the end of the day that is all that is left then every one of us should just be happy that there are still ppl out there like that.:D

Ahhh i remeber the old UTC, i think i joined back in March 2002 (well thats what it says on my PCTT profile), those were the days heh ;)
The only difference now compared to i think is the fact that now there isnt nearly as much users as there used to be and now most of the old members have branched off into other sites, p2pforums, pctechtalk etc. But im confident UTC will grow to the population it was once again, it just needs more time and for people to keep the forums alive.
