What ever happened to the irc channel. I have been to both #unitethecows.com and #utc and both rooms seem to be dead. has every one just forgot or have they given up .

MIRCow is a dead project as far as I know. It was started by a former member of UTC. There may be some copies of it floating around however.

After the bad experience some of us had with IRC back before the old UTC shutdown, we kind of shy away from it now. (speaking for myself anyway :( ) Although many great folks still hang out there. There is a channel bearing the UTC name, I believe Intimidated owns it. Check with him for the info.

Unite has talked about starting a Java type client for the site, but hasn't had the time to pursue it yet. :)

I find it a crying shame that one person has managed to banish UTC from IRC.

In my case, it's a personal choice. I can't or don't speak for everyone of course. I certainly have nothing against the great people who still enjoy IRC. It can be a great tool, when used properly. We still have plans for a site based Java type chatroom down the road as far as I know. That doesn't mean of course that any of our members who chooses can't continuing enjoying IRC. It simply stopped being fun for me because of all the hard feelings, politics and a few bad eggs. And if isn't fun, then what is the point? My actions don't have to influence anyone else, as this is only my choice, based on my feelings. :)

Its not so much that any users from utc decide to stay away from it... Its more that the site is choosing not to use p2pchat. I mean its the home of so many in the p2p world. ZP, Slyck, Pctt, kazaaliet, morpheus, p2pf's, shareaza.. That is all that I think is a shame. I can totally respect any indiviual who isn't into it. And u guys could have your java client ready tomorrow...from kaya...

I will ask Unite about it again as soon as I talk to him. He and I have had a lot on our plates recently, both sitewise and lifewise. I encourage any of our members who wish to participate in IRC, please do so. Intimidated has a UTC IRC channel and I think that FW has one too, if anyone is interested. :)

Not tring to hound you about it. I think the problem is that there are 2 differnt channels. I think the people who run both would be happy to merge or shut down one or the other... I mean u guys have a few staff or a least semi-staff like peps who are around the server all the time (staff from pctt I mean) Just make sure everyone knows that its the sponsered un-offical channel of utc or something. Just a lot of bodies floating around that server. We over at p2p forums have got a lot of users but morph and klight people stumbling in the channel. Good luck with everything R.B. :-)

No problem bud, I knew you weren't. We always invite constructive criticism. FW started her channel and didn't know that Russ had told Intimidated he could go ahead and start the other. PCTT has their own channels, even though some of the staff are common to both sites. I haven't really kept up because, as I said, I seldom visit IRC anymore. Maybe someday, I will again. Ya never know. I must admit, I do miss regular contact with the cowgirls.

I liked mIRCow, it 0wned. I used it all the time when i had the chance and then it stopped and i can't find anywere to get it :(

The official channel is now up in running.So for all you irc chatters the channel is the p2pchat server and the name is #unitethecows

some of us cows stear clear of irc and then their are some of use that live in it lol...
as others have said it is all up to the individual if you like irc come on over if you like the forums come on in. Me i usaly stalk the forums and lounge around in irc if anyone needs any thing give a yelp and there is bound to be someone that will help no matter where you are ;) ;)

I am happy that utc has its own channel. I'm not online much on pctt or on unitethecows but i was a cow from the begining so you can count on seeing me in the new 'official' channel when i have free time. I kinda like to stay logged into irc if i'm at home although i dont 'chat' alot in the channel.
