I was checking out my friends comp and he has a internet package that is supposed to be slower than mine. His should be like 128/56 and mine should be 512/128.The only differences I saw were he had this network card: Intel EtherExpress Pro/100 ISA NIC and I have this network card D-Link DFE-550TX FAST Ethernet 10/100 Adapter..I checked is link speed and it said 100MB and mine says 10MB...Does anyone know how to adjust my network card so it's links speed is 100 instead of 10MB?Any help is greatly appreciated.

When I take it from 10MB Half duplex to 100 Half or full duplex, I lose my network connection.Could this be caused by my cable connecting my network card to my modem?
BTW I have a Toshiba PCX1100 if this helps anyone.

The reason I am asking is because his download speeds and connection are alot faster than me and he only lives like 2 buildings away. The only differences between us are his network card and modem, and I am supposed to have a faster internet package. His link speed is 100 and mine is 10.I thought maybe this was the main reason why his connection was faster.I don't know though.

Try the tweaking test at http://dslreports.com/tweak
Im not shure that it will help for download speeds but its worth a shot.

i dont think it is, but try a speed test (check rastas post about bookmarks, hes got a few good ones) on both machines, they hit my machine pretty accurately

the thing is that I have tried dslreports tweaks, and I have tried all of speedguide.net's tweaks.I have posted on speedguide's forums and none of these tweaks make a difference.I should be seeing 65KB/15KB speeds instead of 15KB/8KB speeds.I download a file on my friends comp and he was getting 100KB/sec speeds when he should be getting more like 20KB/sec download speeds with his package.I am to the point where I am thinking about buying a new cable modem and network card.I may call my ISP again tommorrow.
