I was trying to help a friend of mine out with this problem, and I couldn't get it figured out.Any help is appreciated.
The computer restarts I try to open any video/movie regardless of format.I converted a bin to mpeg with vcdeasy, and everytime it is opened it restarts the comp.
Here are some specs:
Compaq
Intel Pentium 4 2gig
512MB PC2100 DDR memory
Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics
The players I tried were:
Windows media player (up-to-date)
Divx Player 2.1 with the newest divx codecs
This is a long shot but would he need to use both the bin and cue with vcdeasy to convert it to mpeg.I didn't think that should make his comp restart though.

well-
i do not convert bin and cue to mpeg. this is what i do.
Open the Cue in daemon tools (see my guide here (http://flinger.dogbrush.co.uk/tutorials/bincue/bincueguide.html))
Open Power DVD, and Select the drive that you loaded the cue into. EXample drive G: SO you would open drive G and it would play it. Or once you mount it, you can use windows explorer to navigate into drive G: and in the MPEG folder i believe it is, there will me a strangley named file.mpeg...thats your file that you can open with any player.
if the problems continue, try updating drivers

The thing is that I use vcdeasy all the time with no problems with the same file I was trying on his comp.I think I might try having him update his drivers.I have never seen a comp restart everytime you try to open an mpeg file..

BTF, sorry I did not see this earlier....it looked like he had a conflict running where 2 different programs were trying to open and access the file at the same time.-- this causes a error which forces a reboot (especially in XP--if you have the Reboot on error checked in the system control panel)
This does not have anything to do with HOW you make your .bin/.cue or mpg files, it does have to do with what Windows does when it tries to open them.
You obviously found the problem, which was to remove all of the players that play access .mpg files, then reload them one by one-- your alternative is to painfully search through the registry for the conflict.
You could have found out which programs were causing the reboot/error by looking in your EVENT VIEWER.
...for Next time.
