NEW YORK - Advanced Micro Devices Inc. said on Tuesday it plans to demonstrate a new chip with two processing units, as it competes with Intel Corp. to ramp up technology for microprocessor chips.

AMD said the chip, designed for corporate customers and due to be available in the middle of 2005, aimed to boost processor performance without significantly increasing power consumption and heat dissipation.
