My Download Speed Increased!

I just got a letter from my ISP saying that Aug. 1st they will increase the speed of my DSL from 256/256 to 512/256! My download speed will be doubling! Plus on top of that, the payments will be going down from 49.99 to 39.99! I'm so thrilled!

Lucky *******, our prices jumped 10 bucks a month for the same service, and we have no option to upgrade our 128k up line.

Right now for 768/128k cable (second fastest available in our area) we're paying over $110 a month. This also includes basic cable, but STILL. Holy ****...its just insane. We only have one ISP so there is no competition.

We only have one ISP as well. Well one ISP that offers broadband. We can get dial-up from ISPs over 50 miles away. But man, 110$! Yikes!

My speed is about 1800kbps download and 350kbps upload usually and that's for $40 a month.

Forgot to mention, that was after we bought the modem. They were charging ten bucks a month rent on the modem alone.

Base cable internet is 256/128 and starts at 39.95 a month. The city has actually forced the company to stop raising prices, charter wanted even MORE than what we're paying.

Oh very nice! Wish I had those speeds. But really, I can't complain. Because where I live, I really shouldn't have DSL at all. The only reason I do, is because Quest (I think that's which company it was) wanted to lay fiber optics to a town east of us. But they had to go through our town to get to it. So they cut us a deal, saying we could use the fiber optics if our town let them lay it through here. The rest is history...

I get 1.5mbps/256kbps for 58$

Now with 512/256kbps for 40$ is good..so thats a nice change for you

i'm still on 56k cause i'm moving soon so i cant take up a contract which would be 12 months, only paying a tenner though so its not too bad for just surfing. Cant wait to get high speed though, will really mean using some progs will be worth it :D

$39.95 gets me 128Kb through Wireless lan. For $20 more per month, I could get 256Kb, but I just can't handle that right now. At least it is better than dialup. :(

Is that the only good connection speed you can get in your area? If it isnt i would cancel it becuase that price is a rip off.

I agree with the others! That's aweful for that price...I would stick with dialup before I'd pay that much for so little.

Your upload sucks really..and I believe you should do a test 3-4 times and compare the results..138 is impossible

Its really either 128 or 256, unless you get 190 by any chance

Well I tested it with pcpitstop, and I tested it several times, but I am connected to the internet through a router, and my Husband had stuff going when I tested it( i dont know if that matters) 138 is what I got every time I tested it the first number is the only one that changed.

Seems pretty good to me, I'm connected at 543 kbps and I pay 40 bucks a month, so I'd say twice as good.
