This is all BS work in 3ds max 6. Im basically going through a crash course since im modding ut2004. A friend of mine wanted me to make a .45 Colt bullet. In the end my rounds look like .50 AE rounds.:urock:

First ever here:

Nah, they look pretty good. I think 3DSMax is a pretty complicated program. I have never really been able to get going on it.

Im just glad i managed to make the basics of a round. I just need to scale the length right. If i widened those they'd look just like 40mm HE grenades.

Oh and I followed some videos on 3dbuzz.com on the 3ds max basics. I need to move onto maya. Check on suprnova and in the App-->windows. Look for Lynda's 3ds max, those 2 cd images are video tutorials.

Hey Nick--Those 3D apps are no joke. They look like so much fun at first qand then once you get into them it's like "ah Hell no......!!!!" I just finished a semster with them. Started with Dimensions and then moved on to Bryce (very cool program I thought and if you screw it up, you can say you meant for it to look that way, ) and then the clas went on to Inspire. Since I do alot of my work from home and get an excellent deal on my software (like $0.00), the prof said I should get Lightwave. Because of the timing, I ended up with 7.5 for mac and pc and then a few weeks later got 8.0 for both.
I have never even heard of the app you are referring to though I have certainly heatd of maya. You don't have a cylinder tmplate in your wireframes?
I managed to find some great 3D tuts if you are interested that deal with almost all the apps. You can either ask questions or throw your examples up and someone will have an answer for you--there are alot of profesionals in there. Interested or are you done? Another spot to go for critiques once you are done is deviantArt--I love my little spot there. First though, I think you need to get some good tuts.
BTW, I liked your "messed up" ones better, but I like messy stuff!!

Heh thx sepia. Nah im going thru a self teaching situation. Im trying to do all aspects of modding for unreal tournament 2004. By the end of summer i should have myself a custom mod of ut. I need to work on 3d stuff cause my first mod is a guns pack featuring real guns. Its some code, but mostly models and animation.

Okay, but the offer still stands--I have a huge list of really good spots to go get tut, ask questions, take a look at what others have done, and get tips. I do much better with the online, hands on tuts than with those books (my Lightwave Book is like one of those huge college Dictionarys!) and all math and vector based. I finally just said I will never be an animator and ripped the program out. Now I have verions 7.5 and 8 for mac and pc and am thinking about selling them.
You know anyplace I can get an inexpensive version of Poser? I tried downloading it several times, evn the ISO files and never could get it to operate, even set back my computer times--which worked well with my first ver of Illustrator, I now have a bought version of 10--I would love to play with that program. I've seen some great stuff over at deviant that is dome in poser. That's my home away from here.
the picture here was made by Pharie over at deviant. she is great with poser. and PS.

Tutorials is fine never refused em. Err never heard of Poser. Ive just heard of 3dsmax, maya, softimage, lightwave, etc. Not sure which has the least learning curve. I just need to mess with maya little more. Messed too much with 3ds max that i might get hooked to it.

*Oh and goth twins...me likes me likes!
