Gia--have the film and found it quite sad. (there is a pic of the woman this story was based on in the hotties section, I just posted it)

We went on a movie binge this weekend and saw to in the cinema and then ended up buying three.
Bought:
The Secret Window with Johnny Depp. More like one of the old Stephen King movies and actually very good. Not sure how closely it followed the book as I quit reading him when Insomnia bored me to death. But, Depp gave a good performance and there were some kind of predictable yet still good twists.

Taking Lives the Uncut Version. This one really had us all going who done it and why do it while sitting on the edge of our seats. It does have some graphic gore shots in it since it does have Anjelina Jolie playing a profiler. But, the ending I thought was great and quite surpising. I'm not sorry I got that one.

Frida The story of Frida Kahlo's life with Selma Hyak, Antonio Banderas and a bunch of others. It gave me a look at a side of Mexico I never knew existed, and I loved it enough to buy it. but, it is an artsy film about Diego Garcia and Frida. Not for everyone probably.

In a gripping scene from The Battle of Algiers, three women go into a busy cafe, a club and an airport to leave handbags containing bombs.

Directed by Italian filmmaker Gillo Pontecorvo, the 1965 classic is a revealing look at the mind-set of terrorists that is so relevant to current events that it was screened at the Pentagon. A DVD of the film out today (Criterion, $50) puts the film into cinematic and political context.

Algeria won its independence in 1962 after an eight-year battle with France. Two years later, Pontecorvo went there with the help of former insurgent Saadi Yacef to make the film about the start of the uprising against the French. A former National Liberation Front leader, Yacef plays El-hadi Jaffar, a character based on himself.
