The EFF(Electronic Frontier Fondation) has a search engine to check to see if you have been issued a subpeona by the RIAA.If you have been issued a subpeona, you can get a copy of it through the EFF site also.
HERE (http://www.eff.org/IP/P2P/riaasubpoenas/) is the site.

Ya I was thinking about that myself..but then I realized that this is the EFF and not some bogus website
Anyways, checking your ip address..is no proof for them
It could be just some random person stumbling upon the site and checking their status

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but having a dynamic (always changing IP) will off you no protetion. you ISP has very good records on who was using which IP at any given time. They can also tell exactly how much bandwidth you have used at any given time, so the excuse "I don't download music/movies, so there must be a mistake--you have the wrong guy/girl" won't hold water.
The records from your ISP will show that you downloaded 10 GB during the previous week....Bummer.

I'm in the uk so i think i'm ok for the minute, but what is the probably of the RIAA gettin hold of the records of who has typed in their ip? i wouldnt really trust anything on the net that involves me revealing that i have been doing something i shouldnt.

Err..and even if they did get it
How is that going to help them?
As I said, it could be some random guy stumbling upon the webiste..who knows
That's why..its impossible

It would give them a place to start, and it says on the website
"Subpoena Username Query Form
Concerned that information about your file-sharing username may have been subpoenaed by the RIAA? Check here to see if your username or IP address is on one of the subpoenas filed with the D.C. District Court. This information is drawn from the court's publicly available PACER database and will be updated when that system is updated."
that is pretty clear what it is for so i think it is pretty doubtful that some random person is just going to check their ip if they havent been using a P2P proggie.

It doesn't matter if you type in your IP address or not. If you go to the site, they've got your IP address. UTC logs your IP address. It's just how the internet works. So even if you don't enter your IP address, but visit the page, they've got your IP. It's that simple. That's how the internet works, is by communication with addresses.

Nope. You have to remember these are SCARE tactics.. there's no way they're going to chase all those people up with lawsuits, most of them would win due to lack of evidence, and it'd cost a LOT of money.
the RIAA just wants to get the message out that they ARE there and they WILL invade your privacy!
