Xnews (http://xnews.newsguy.com/#download) which is a good free Newsgroup browser
Agent (http://www.forteinc.com/main/homepage.php) which is a good shareware newsgroup browser
Newsbin (http://www.newsbin.com/) which is a really good newsgroup browser however it is also shareware

another site that I found particularly useful was alt.binaries.nl (http://alt.binaries.nl).

and don't forget power grabber (http://www.cosmicwolf.com/power_grab_2002.htm) and power post (http://www.cosmicwolf.com/power_post_2000.htm) either.
