Alright i have been using Bittorrent for a while now and i love it! But i have a few problems and i just want a little help, so if you could lend a hand that would be great.

1) I use Shadows Bittorrent Client version S-5.8.11 and i ALWAYS get the yellow light, i know i know i have seen what it says i need to fix my firewall but the thing is, i don't know how to do that. I have looked around and it seems i need to open ports 6881-6889 and also 6969 and 3434 i use Norton Personal Firewall 2003 and i am having a really hard time finding out how to do this.

2) what program do you think is the best for downloading Bittorrents i have only ever used the origional bittorrent and shadow's one. But if their are better ones i would like to use them.

Actually, my first bit of advice would be to try another client to see if that doesn't help get things started.


My favorites at the moment are Burst! and Azureus. (both are available in our downloads section) TorrentStorm is another good one.


I always recommend you keep a couple of clients handy since sometimes one performs better than the other on a given torrent. You will find Azureus to be a bit more feature oriented and Burst! is fairly straightforward. If you try your torrent on a couple of different clients and it still won't start, it just might be a bum torrent. Lately some sites require registration to even download from their trackers, that is another possibility. In any event I think you will find Burst! and Azureus will give you more detailed information about your downloads, thus helping you to track down the cause of any problem you might be experiencing.
