Okay, I have a question for everyone. I live in California and I see a lot of out-of-state cars on the road. I have noticed something though, all these out-of-state cars, trucks, and vans have car dealer logos painted on them somewhere.
Example: Joe's used cars, Houston Texas (on the trunk or tailgate)
So my question is why do they do this?
BTW, in this state they have the name of the dealership on the license plate cover, which of course can be removed.

Hmmm, din't know this was a regional practice. I live in Florida, so we see plenty of out-of-state cars too. (too many)
Car dealers always put their name on cars here and as far as I can tell, all over the eastern US as well. I haven't really paid much attention to it, but they are usually just decals.

Yes, I agree with Rasta as there are too many out of state cars here in Fla. When I got my truck 3 years ago, it had a small dealer decal on the tailgate and a front and rear license plate cover with there info.
It is just free adversting for them, as many people can see that information, like when you are stopped at a light or as they walk through a parking lot.

So I take it that putting decals on is just standard practice in Florida.
There are logos that I have seen painted on, because I have walked up to cars in parking lots and looked real close and I'm like "why the heck would they do that?"
It's just strange to me.

Nothing painted on yet, that would upset me. Just vinyl lettering so far. I don't mind a long at it is small and not overbearing.

It's like a hardware pop-up.

They do that in the uk & ireland too. As Tadd says its free advertising, though here it is just usually a sticker in the rear window which can be easily removed. I have seen many modified cars, that the owners put brand names on the doors

However, you usually can't see it because of my magnets on the back.

Well, I was driving today and I noticed a Dodge Durango and Chevy Suburban both brand new that had decals on them and they both had California plates.
I think the 'hardware spam' is catching on here now.
The decal on the Suburban said 'Wood' huh, huh, huh, huh
