I noticed that some of us has aggressions.
My self I´m more of a pointer. But it made me think of what I find ridiculous.
I´ve seen 1-2 programs and dr phil can not `cure`people in half an hour.
So why does people watch it?
My belief is that some people like to see looneys make fools of themselves.
Or maybe the ones that feel like shi*
enjoy seeing people more crazy than they are.

He doesn't claim to cure people in an hour. If it is truly a serious problem...he provides what ever resources the people involved need, like therapy in their own community. Watch the Dr. Phil families like "A Family Divided" or " A Family in Crisis"and you'll see what I mean. Especially, on the "Family in Crisis" one.
He won't bring on suicidal or truly mentally ill people.

It´s tru that to make "people in crises"
famous,they sometimes can be healed.
And I had no clue that he was altuistic!
So that´s why he is almost revered as a
buddha(god in man or woman) but that´s maybe tru in most celebrities in US;)
I´m not living there so may missunderstand, but then if I was maybe I would have nothing to say:)
Nobody can say that a person is or is not suicidal, change the enviorment for "sane" person and he go berserk and the other way around
Thanks,fluffy for getting this aggression
started:clap:

Where are you from?
And why thank me for your own aggression??? I did not do anything but reply and do not appreciate your sarcasm.
The Dr. Phil's of this world give at the right time what the people need, otherwise such people would not tune in. Appearantly he is helping a lot of people with his brand of 'tell it like it is' psychology.

I fear that we are having a language translation breakdown here.
In my humble opinion, Dr. Phil offers a voice of reason and common sense in a world where those things are all too often missing. Like Fluffy said, I don't think that many of his guests are "healed" after 1 visit with him. But it at least gives many people a place to start. Most of the guests on his shows I have watched, are mildly nerotic or just plain stubborn and arrogant. With his "plain talk", he kind of shakes them up, in order to get them to see another point of view. As far as how altruistic he is, all I can say is that I believe that he sincerely wants to help people. Of course, if his show were not popular, it would not last on television. ;)

I am very sorry, cowfeebreak. I mistakeningly took your comment as I was being aggressive and had not taken into account that English is your second language. Please accept my sincerest apologies for my snapping at you.

I think the point here is not whether he helps people or not, but, is this something we should be entertaining ourselves with? I guess if someone tunes in who happens to have exactly the same problem, they might walk away with something, but then again, this type of treatment is so personalized, it could just as easily be harmful. It seems like this type of treatment is so personal and private, it is just a little too voyeuristic to be broadcast for all to watch.
I have to admit, my exposure to this show is minimal, but it doesn't strike me a very good thing. But to each his own. I know Fluffy well enough to know that if she finds something positive in his show, there prolly is sumthin to it...................
