question about converting

If i have a bunch of128 k/s songs and i want better quality is it really gonna help if i convert them to 190 or would it only work if i ripped them off a CD (for my own personal use of course)

You won't improve the quality by going from 128k to 190k now cause it has already been lost in the first ripping, you would have to do it again from cd to get better quality.

Agreed. Going from one lossy codec to another just looses more of the quality. It is always best to re-rip them to a higher bitrate, than to reduce them further. ;)
