Tried out LimeWire after a long time away and it seems to have improved. I get results and I can actually download them. At one point I was unable to test what happens when a file won'tdownload because every one I tried was downloading. weird

Anyway, I got bored and applied some of my old fixes for a pseudo AquaLime. Pseudo because I can't be bothered to do the skinning stuff anymore, but all the other features are in there.

I've no idea what the other LimeWire knockoffs are doing. If anyone wants to try out the new stuff in a clean package, I could have one up sometime.

MamiyaOtaru! Talk about a sight for sore eyes. Great to see you again ol' buddy, welcome back!

:foryou:

I have tried out Limewire Pro 3.8.5, and I have been really pleased with the results. I for one would LOVE to see you put out another AquaLime, by all means! ( the heck with the skins, performance is what counts anyway ;) )

good to be back :) glad someone remembers me hehe.

Gotta preliminary version done.. need somewhere to host it. It's bloated up to 4.1 MB.. this is after cutting out a ton of Mac specific stuff.

Sorry maccies, I tried but it needed 5 more jar files and after adding them it still gave me compile errors. It pisses me off to have to go to so much platform specific trouble with a cross platform language. No official mac support.

for now it can be had here (http://freewebs.com/mamiyaotaru/aqualime386beta.zip). I can't leave it there long though so if anyone with real space grabs it, let me know. No installer just yet :D The batch file should start it fine assuming you have java installed.

Lemme know if/how it works

I feel certain that we can host it for you. Lion and I have had trouble accessing the server to upload things, but I am sure Russ can upload it for us. :)

You didn't really think I would forget the first friend I ever had here did ya? You taught me a lot of what I learned in the early days. You, Russ, Intimidated, gbread and LP were great teachers and even better friends. ;)

I am attaching MO's zip file here temporarily for anyone who wants to test it out. Once he gets it the way he wants it, we will be adding it to our DL section. ;)

For some reason we can't get it to upload. We will try to find out why. Sorry. :(

I remember you, MamiyaOtaru. And welcome back. I'd love to try your version of LimeWire. I had the same type of problems with it back in the day. We'll see how it works now.

I have uploaded it to the server, it's in the download section.

things are progressing. I added something I've wanted for quite a while: the ability to seek in a file in the media player. Now you can skip to anywhere in the file by clicking on the progress bar.

Also fixed a LimeWire renaming bug (and submitted a patch). I'll get another version up sometime soon.

aqualime386 installer is up. I'd be grateful if someone could test it out and be sure it works, and get it on the server the installer (http://freewebs.com/mamiyaotaru/AquaLime386.exe)

differences between this and limewire: Extend search (instead of erase results and repeat), import shareaza security files, seeking in the mp3 player, rearranged layout, flags in the connection tab, and it's clean.

Advanced searches can be done by opening up the panel on the right of the search tab (click the little left arrow)

It comes witha recent shareaza security file update so you can practice importing :) (tools->security) You need to unpack the zip first, then import the xml files.

the zip file (http://freewebs.com/mamiyaotaru/AquaLime386.zip): doesn't need testing as much, but needs to be uploaded to the server as well :)
