Roadblock

I tried to convert an XviD file to VCD ready MPEG yesterday for Lion, using EOVideo, so I could burn a VCD using Nero. I copied the file from the cd to my hard drive, but EOV wouldn't recognize it. It plays fine as an XviD, even throgh the EOV Player. Nero went ahead and re-encoded it, then burned the VCD, no probnlem. But when I tried to watch it in my stand alone DVD player, it was upside down! I never had that happen before. I checked it tonight with G-Spot, and it said I had all the proper codecs installed. (I have Ace Mega)

Any clues?

Ya come on LP, read this thread..*Lion* ;)

well, unfortunately the only times i see upside down video is in your compy....in which case installing the nimo codec pack with custom install and selecting the codec that says "INSTALL ONLY IF YOU HAVE UPSIDE DOWN VIDEO" :P

so im guessing the only thing is that nero f----d up...

i never convert XVID to MPEG just because of the longggg time involved and the resulting quality loss. Try TMPEG or whatever that programs called.....thats what i do to do the VCD header trick, which alows vcd only ddvd players to play svcds. im sure with a plugin and maybe without TMPEG could do it. 30 day free trial

I have had this happen once in the past. I had a file that played upside down for me and a few others, but all of the rest of my vid files played fine.
I solved this by completely REMOVING ALL Video file codecs, Every one I could fine.
Then I reinstalled ONLY the AceMegaCodec Pack.

but to solve your immediate problem (Why are you still using EOVideo???..Oh well, drag a cat to water, but you ....):

you will need to run your mpg file through TEMPGEnc, and there is a filter (I don't currently have a copy of it) you can use to Flip the pic.

The easiest way is to run the xvid/Avi through VirtualDub, and choose DirectStreamcopy video, and DirectStreamCopy for Audio, and for video choose the correct filter to flip the pic.
If the movie plays rightside up in virtualdub, then the problem is that either EOVideo OR NERO is using a corrupted codec, which brings you back to uninstalling ALL of your different codecs.

NERO takes too long to convert movies and it does a mediocre job of Authoring a SVCD. (taking a regular .mpg file and converting it to the proper format and Filestructure for creation of an SVCD)
I suggest using VCDEasy (PM me if you need it) or VCDGear to Author SVCDs.

Oh, and what the hell, here is a Direct Show filter that you can use to flip the image while you watch it.

LOL...I do check in every once in a while:D Best thing to do is post in a thread then PM me a link.

I currently have 5 (count'em...5) computers dissembled in my "office" upgrading two of them, and moving the older parts to the next...ultimately everyone ends up with a better computer than they had originally.

...Only problem was getting my main puter back up and running so I could get on the "net"...LOL
