Can anyone tell me why I have only 10 actively downloading torrents. All the others are in the waiting state and a couple of them are seeding. They are waiting for what?

I don't use Azureus, but if it is like Burst. You can set how many simultaneous torrent files you can download at one time before it queues them...If there is no setting for this, it could be a default setting for Azureus. As downloads finish, azureus will start downloading a new torrent file from your queues list.

BTW..welcome to the Herd!!

Yes, it is tied into what you set your connection speed to. If you used the configuration wizard you will see that as you change the preset connections (cable/dsl ~ slow, cable/dsl~medium, etc) the downloads/uploads change. I think you can change this manually in the configurations, but there might be a max.

BTF, try it you'll like it. I use several BT clients and you would be amazed at the difference in performance between the clients with the same torrent. If I get poor results with a torrent I rotate it through several clients till I get the best results. Azureus is very ofter the best. (but not always)

I have had Azureas for a few days. I like it, but I have been so used to burst! it is hard to change. I don't like the ability to see the IP address of the people who you are getting files from. That means they can also see me, but there are other BT clients who do that too. I guess it isn't that hard to get an IP but it is still a little unsettling. Otherwise, I like it's features. I haven't tested it as thoroughly as rasta has to check on speed differences yet though. I mainly use BT for TV Shows, applications and older type movies. It is great for those things. ;)

Well, it really doesn't matter if you can see the IPs or not. That doesn't change the fact that every one else can still see yours whether you use a client with that ability or not. There is no security in using a client that does not display that information.

I also use experimental from time to time. As I said in another thread, it is amazing the difeerent results you will see with the same torrent using different clients. I highly reccomend this strategy for best results............

That is what I meant. The fact that I can see other BT user's IPs while using Azureas, means that other Azureas users can see mine as well. There are other BT clients that can do too.

Me no like. ;)

I don't know how I failed to mention this, but, there is a plugin for Azureus that allows you to use PGs block list to block IPs from downloading from ya. They might be able to see ya, but they can't get nuthin from ya................

Get it here. (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/plugin_details.php?plugin=Safepeer)
