VLC for Windows (formerly VideoLAN Client) is a multi-platform multimedia player. It can read DVDs, VCDs, MPEG, and DivX files and from a satellite card. It can also read a stream from a network sent by the VideoLAN Server or another source. The stream can be MPEG 2 TS in UDP or HTTP packets unicasted or multicasted on an IPv4 or IPv6 network.

I have used VideoLAN for quite some time. It is really very buggy, but it will play anything, and I mean anything! If VideoLAN can't play it, it can't be played. I have always depended on it to test videos to see if they were worth fussing with further. I have had many that I could play with absolutely none of my other players and VL would play it. It also plays partial files pretty good.

Hopefully the newest version has most of the bugginess worked out. That would make this player usable as a player and not just a testing tool.
