File Description:

Nero is a flexible, reliable, and easy-to-use application designed to write both data and CD audio to CD-R and CD-RW discs. It supports ISO 9660 images as well as ISO mode 1 and XA mode 2, and allows for on-the-fly disc recording in addition to overburning (if supported by hardware). It also supports multisession and mixed-mode recording, HFS, ISO/HFS hybrid, UDF, PSX, OFAS (optimal file access speed), track-at-once (TAO) and disc-at-once (DAO) writing, digital audio extraction, and more. In addition, Nero can dynamically disable automatic-insert notification, offers support for multiple languages, and works with all major models of CD-R and CD-RW drives. This also contains a standalone Cover Editor for designing and printing CD covers.

Version history/updates are posted on Nero's website. Navigating the site is a bit more complicated than it used to be, but the info is still there. *L*

Does anyone beside me remember Adaptec Easy CD Creator?, now that was torture (back when I had my first 4x4x24x CD burner)

Yep, Adaptec Easy CD Creator was the first burning software I used and it SUCKED! *L*

There is not that much differnce between the current Roxio and Adaptec...

Just some food for thought for NealT (or anyone for that matter) Adaptec/Roxio does not play nice with most other burning software. The drivers can cause a bunch of conflicts with other drivers.

If you install Nero for instance, you have to get rid of ALL (or rename) the Roxio drivers. Uninstalling Roxio DOES NOT get rid of them.

Same for the Adaptec/Roxio ASPI Layer drivers. The most current ones have been known to cause stability problems in some systems. For WinNT/WinXP the older Version 4.60.1021 layer is recommended by most for trouble free operation. Note: You HAVE TO HAVE an installed ASPI Layer, as this is what controls the operation of your IDE CD/CDR/Rom devices.

Don't get confused about the ASPI Layer and the burning software drivers, they are two DIFFERENT things!

Note: WinNT/2000/XP does not come with a fully installed, native ASPI Layer! They use a "virtual" Layer by MS! Garbage!

Anyway, the moral of the story is...if you want to use burning software other than Adaptec/Roxio, make sure you get rid of the Roxio junk first.

Ok, sorry about the rambling on...back to topic.... *L*

Maybe they made it work properly. I had V6 it wouldn'd do anything correctly and when it did work well it cocked up the covers by not leaving gaps between the words. Gone back to 5.5.9.9 it works perfectly
