Me again!! This irc game is confusing me somewhat. By my reckoning, regarless of which server used I should be able to access all the chat rooms online that are not invite only? If so, how come that I cannot find users online in the pctech room and depending on server it tells me it's invite only. I know I can access UTC as was talking to Wobbel on saturday using irc4 and followed a link he put on to get to PCTT.
Since then however I am unable to find any users online at any time of day. I have left it online till 3am GMT when at least a couple of you stateside users have probably passed through one of the rooms and no activity has been registered.
If I try to use as FW said the german net, if it will log onto them, it will only stay stable for a minute tops then self disconnects. but, while online it goes to both UTC and PCTT straight away and there are always people there. I Think the main one that's there is moobot or something like that but, there a are usually 5 or 6 names in the right field on both rooms.
It tells me on disconnecting that it's a software fault and a code which I didn't write down and can't remember, I can't write it down now as it will not log onto the german net anymore at all. No I'm lying it did yesterday, then I told it to go to UTC which it did there were users there and it disconnected almost immediately. It is stable as long as I don't want it to do anything. All other nets don't seem to cause a problem but I can't find any users in PCTT or UTC. I know it it's working to a point as I spent a couple of hrs' in the trivia room yesterday. Surely if it was a software fault it would do the same on all nets? Have tried a different version of mIRC and a version from a different site in case of bad DL but, to no avail it's the same. This leads me to believe it's a system fault of some description. Usually after a good coat of looking at I can formulate an idea of the problem but this, it's got me cold. Have looked for help in the #begginer rooms but no one would appear to be onstation as it were when I am in there. Anyone got any ideas?
