View Full Version : Will SLYCK come through for winMX users?

Last August Slyck (www.slyck.com) had an interview with the makers of winMX (www.winmx.com)-- Frontcode.

In the 'WinMX: The Eternal' (http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=216) interview Frontcode said:"I'll give a very rough estimate [releast date] of late October for WinMX v4.0 beta 1."
-Kevin Hearn (President of Frontcode)

The last time Slyck reported an estimate for the release of the next version of winMX they were off by months. In their January 'The Future of WinMX' interview (http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=53) with Frontcode they quoted Kevin Heard as saying, "We're working on some really exciting things for upcoming versions of WinMX, but progress is a bit slower than I expected. I expect the next release (v3.32 probably) to be within the next 6 weeks, possibly as soon as 2 weeks."

Two to six weeks came and went... and another six weeks came and went... and another. Slyck readers weren't updated (http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=165) again until May 30th when it was reported that Frontcode was doing a complete re-rewrite on the software. The next version would be v4.0.

Slyck has been a trust worthy source, and continues to be one of the only (if not the only) websites that Frontcode has done an interview with on a consistant basis. I'm hoping that when Holloween rolls around I'll have something more than candy to celebrate. The last time winMX got an update was October of last year and it's not impossible that it'll be getting another face lift in just a few more days.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Better question is will winmx come through for winmx users?

It'll be nice to have new version that deals with some of the current versions problems. Napster and later Winmx were the two software I got most of my mp3s off in the old days.

Better question is will winmx come through for winmx users?true, the fact that the winMX website not being updated in a year or so is rather disheartening. But, don't forget maggiore fretta, minore atto; give frontcode some time--I'd rather them take their time and do a good job instead of rush the process and then hear everyone say, "we've been waiting so long for this!?!?"
nah winMX was good, is good, and is going to get better. :)

Your right imagenyus. WinMX was good, and could be again. The problem isn't really with the program, it is with the users who only trade files. Many times I tried waiting in line for hours just to see people bumped up ahead of me. I finally gave up. :(

I tried Winmx some time ago and after waiting in line for hours and getting no transfers completed i did what roadblock did and gave up and called winmx quits. Hopefully this v4.0 will be better for the network

No arguments there, man, because I really liked getting my music stuff off winmx in the old days. Especially now kazaa is going down the drain with fakes, viri, lawsuits and worst of all becoming paid service, I would go back to an improved winmx in jiffy.
