After difficult '06 season, owner finds happiness again.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Sunday morning's local newspaper distributed at Daytona International Speedway cited legendary car owner Robert Yates as retiring at the end of the 2007 season.
Sunday afternoon's Bud Pole Qualifying session for the Daytona 500 wasn't even over and Yates was almost in hysterics near the end of pit road when he was asked to confirm the rumor.
"How do you divorce someone you love?" rhetorically asked the man who's owned his team for 19 years. "And I still love this [sport]."
