Hey people, is there any free text-to-voice software on the net? I need the software that speaks what u type, no voice recognition. Any ideas?

microsoft reader (microsoft's responce to adobe's pdf s) reads allowed what you type. You can get a Word add on that allows you to save files in .lit format (what the reader uses) and from there you can get the reader to read to you.
links:
Microsoft Reader (http://www.microsoft.com/reader/downloads/pc.asp)
the Word plug-in (http://www.microsoft.com/reader/downloads/rmr.asp) (Note: you need word 2002 for this one; I'm not sure how well this plug in works with legacy versions; if it doesn't work, then you'll need a different version)

hope that helps

Yeah that was a program I needed. I did manage to have a good alternative. SayIT will be used for screwing around with voices. But I use IBM ViaVoice's text to speech with TextAloud MP3.

TextAloud is just a front end for these engines and all it does is let you write, play, and save speeches. Thats all I really need.
