As a Half-Life fanatic this makes me sick....and yet somewhat relieved since Valve delays software all the damn time.

yes, the source code was leaked, and the same person that got that has also leaked the beta. Rumors say that he plans on releasing the pre-gold version shortly.
I think leaked betas are good for the game. It increases hype and makes people more excited about it (especially after it's been delayed).
Look at the doom 3 leek, that has made the buzz around it even more serious and there isn't even a release date for it....

thats just waiting for some dev to steal halflifes engine code and make a (probably kick ass) game out of it with like no work

The HL2 source code was leaked almost a week before the beta was...
And about making a kick ass game with it?
People have already started redoing the origenal halflife using the HL2 engine as well as CS.

or is that about now as well? the beta was independant from the source code leak; it is believed that the same person that hacked valve stole more than just the source code.... why would he get the source and forget the game?
This is discussed in the games nfo file if your on ng that still have the game on its servers.

yep the source wouldnt be much good with out at least a few maps..:)

tho this will be a game to buy ..imo
u know cd keys auth servers..etc
and this leak will possibly force them to release
a decent demo(that allows for online play)..wich i might wait for...
if they are smart that would be good marketing
using the good old "get em hooked first"
tried and true method for selling online games

I've seen the beta played online, but the lag is ridiculous; I don't think anyone would have enough bandwidth to keep up.

ok id like to clear sum stuff up ere while i has a chance cause there seems to be some confusion

ok FIRSLY and most importantly the leaked source ect was an ALPHA not a beta

now i have played it and alot of work needed to be done to it but if you have seen any movies they were newer than the leak even though the leak was suppoesedly taken place around 2 weeks ago i think. suspicious.

well the game looks very promising but alot of work to be done

The leaker was also named as Anonymous leaker not anon or anything else

the release date has been pushed back again 'beacuse of the leak' but looking at what had been done even if this was 6 months old it would be nowhere near ready by x-mas

my and others theory is that valve leaked this alpha out to show people a taste of what is in store and working like hell to get HL2 in out shelves by x-mas and get patches goin

i will post some screen shots on my site for you all to look at along with a full article on the matter im adding more in a while im goin out for a sec ;)
