Well, here is what I would recommend for cleaning stuff up:

Cleandisk 2002, get it here: http://www.aesoftware.com/cdisk2002-421.exe

Ad-Aware: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail.php3?fid=965718306

Also, which OS do you have. If you have Windows 98 like me, using ME defrag seriously speeds things up as far as defraging goes.

I forgot MRU-Blaster, it cleans index.dat files: http://www.wilders.org/HTMLobj-1588/mrublastersetup.exe

For anyone wanting to tweak their XP OS try looking through this site: http://www.tweakhound.com/xp/WindowsXP.htm
It has several tweaks, explanations and nice free programs for your windows xp.

Also imo the basic things to do in order to speed up your PC is: cleaning the registry, temp files, IE cache; disableing unecessary services (and features); having only the extremely necessary programs running in the background (and/or starting with windows); keeping the drive below ~10% fragmentation.

OR

buy a better PC :throw: :D :D

This is the best defrag utility I know of. It's called Diskeeper. Try it here.

Maybe if you delete Windows entirely that would help :squint:

Gosh I'm so helpful today!

One of the BEST sites I have found for tweaking WinXP to get it running faster is:

http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

BlackViper gives a detailed view and suggestions for turning off all the useless, or in some cases "spying" services in WinXP. Tweaking the "services" will surely speed up your PC and will also save memory and resources.
BTW, he makes it easy for you by providing a "*.reg" file to turn off a bunch of the services that are running by default. He also provides one to take everything back to "default" if you desire. How much easier could it be!

Hope this helps. :)
