Ares won't connect

Hey everyone, Im new here and I'm having a prob. My roommate and I just downloaded Ares. The problem is that his works fine (searches, downloads fine) but mine wont even connect. I have no clue what is wrong. Any ideas?

Both of our Ares versions are the most recent one (1.181.2926). OS: windows xp home ed. We have a network through a Linksys Router and Switch. The router has a firewall, but other p2p programs have always worked. It has to be some setting on my computer I think.
