Just finished a book by Catherine Neville - which was called The Eight.
It is set in 1790 and also 1970, and has intertwining plots which are apparently connected - very clever. You should enjoy it if you liked the Da Vinci code, and especially if you play or like chess.
It was quite well written - definitely worth a look, IMHO.
