I just downloaded ares 1.9.2 & all it does is sit there.It just says 'connecting' & does nothing.This has happened with bearshare,imesh,limewire and others.WHY? I have windows xp,windows firewall & sp2.Is it the firewall,or could it be the service pack 2? Would like some feedback on how to fix this and get it 'connected'.THANKS:icon_roll

I would say that you should try to turn off your firewall, and test that. It very well could be that the firewall is not allowing the connection. Are you using this at a place of business? Sometimes businesses firewall that stuff. Else, if it's just a home computer, it might be the firewall settings. Give that a try, and if there are still problems, send it back here.

ive got nortons on my system and it has its own fire wall that you can still run while letting it down for surton programs since i installed it i dont bother with windows firewall it seems too me that win firewall will block all with out allowing protocalls to made for other programes yer its sort off safe but its more off a hinderence good luck and if there is any more proplems contact us and we shall try and help
