Well, I thought that I would go ahead and treat this much like I do the movie reviews. A few weeks ago, I picked up a novel at the store that had been recommended to me. I'd never heard of it, despite its awards, and knew nothing about the story. The book is called Snow and is written by Orhan Pamuk.

This book, winner of the New Your Times Book ReviewBest Book of the Year, takes place in Turkey and is about a revolution that happens. I don't want to get too much into the story, but it's main character is a political exhile that lived in Germany, who returned to his home town to meet up with his long lost love, as well as report on women who are committing suicide due to religious stress. It's an ineresting view on the situation and the religion that I feel we usually don't get. I think that, if you have time, this might be a good read. It's a bit slower than normal, and it's a bit long as well. But if you're interested in taking a closer look at a society that we are not often exposed to, this might be a good chance!
