Way to many good goalies to name. Vancouver just signed Hedberg, hopefully he'll manage to push Cloutier out of the #1 spot. Unlike Vancouver's GM Brian Burke I have no faith in Cloutier who has proven in two play-off runs that he's a major choker under pressure.

Orlando Solar Bears. IHL League champs the same year the league went under.
Am I luck or what?

Those minor league games are outstanding, those guys play really hungry for that next step. At least some of the IHL teams were taken into the AHL, including the Manitoba Moose (Vancouver's farm club), and Vancouver just fired up a new WHL team a few years ago(The Vancouver Giants). I haven't been to any of they're games yet, gotta work myself up for that long trek into the big city(YIKES)!!)

Hi, DC . I had a friend that used to play for Boston's farm club back in the '70's. He was called up about half a dozen times and that was the extent of his NHL career. Oddly enough he used to play for a defunct club in this area called the Bruins.

around here the USHL (I think) it popular it is a midwest highschool kind of league. Then there are no colleges or professional teams around here so it's all the Lincoln Stars

Hey Dr, Yeah, I think the USHL is mostly centered in the US midwest. I know it's a junior hockey league so the age restriction would probably be about 19 or 20. But You can bet a buck that you have a lot of NHL scouts attending those games and a lot of those players would be called up for draft. That's interesting, I'm going to see if I can find out if many players in THe NHL have moved up from that league.

WAAY too many lousy penalties. Don't know if it was just sloppy, or the Refs are off in they're own little world again. I think there should be a little more accountability for those guys when they make lousy calls on a consistent basis. Kowharski's a good example, one day he's right on the money the next he makes up the calls as he goes along. ( Maybe time to retire...?) I'm not saying the Oilers didn't deserve the win because the 'Nucks" aren't known for their consistent play either (YET...). And when they didn't re-sign Baron or Klatt, two solid consistent players for a bucketload of unknown equations I almost fainted... Time will tell, Right.

Sorry about the Pavel Bure trade a few years ago... I think all in all Florida got a raw deal. He was fading when he was traded from Vancouver. A friend of mine up here used to party with him in town and he was apparently quite a spoiled brat with a penchant for nose candy....But you didn't hear that from me and I'll deny all knowledge of ever writing this if confronted.

You got the Devils for your next match-up Zilla, I don't think they did too good against them last year. Don't despair... the seasons still young and the Panthers are only 3 points back of the 'Nucks.........Maybe time for a coaching change???Or it could be all that warm weather down there compared to The Great White North where it gets you in "HOCKEY MODE"

Not sure about the not watching strategy Zilla, I used to use all kinds of lucky charms for the 'Nucks ( Lucky game day T-shirt, etc.....) Nothing seemed to work though, so I just gave up and had to trust them to do they're jobs. I know your teams got a tough game against the Wild coming up, They got a ruthless defense play that's a killer and capitalize too effectively on opposing teams mistakes. The 'Nucks found that out the hard way during the play-offs last year. Tough game against the Blues last night but managed to get the win at 3-2 with 13 seconds left on the clock, 3 days off then the Coyoots here on Sunday. Panthers are still only 3 points back of the 'Nucks.

I knew it was coming. Mike Keenan was fired today, and the GM Rick Dudley is now the interim coach. Hopefully this will spark a little better play.
Thedirtysailor
11-10-2003, 07:26 PM
:) That's a real good move in the right direction for the Panthers, He coached here for a while and had to be the least inspirational coach the 'Nucks ever had, and although the players never said too much about the guy, it spoke volumes when the mid to top liners were on the healthy scratch list, and he instigated spending major dough on some of his old buddies, like Messier and Tikkonnen who contributed little or nothing to a healthy team spirit. I could go on but you've probably seen some good examples of the way he handled his Ex- team down there. Good riddance.

:squint: Short blurb in the local rag up here about Dudley's first win as interim coach sans Keenan. The article writer strongly intimated that dumping Keenan was a move in the right direction for the Panthers. Watched the highlights last night and Luongo had 26 solid saves for the shut-out, he looks like a pretty good back stopper. 'Nucks were chewed up by the Wild last night for a 1-0 loss and Philly coming up on Thursday.

Here in Michigan it doesnt feel like hockey season for some reason. It just isnt cold enough :)
I think the Red Wings are gonna be crap in a couple of years (Maybe after this year when the owners and players association have to sign a deal may be a lockout :() The reason i say the red wings are gonna suck is because they are so old that when one of them retire they are all gonna retire. And then what do they have? I don't see them doing so good in the future. They arent looking to good right now.
Maybe this means the owner will spend more money on the Detroit Tigers instead of the Red Wings

Yeah, the Canucks were going through the same thing a number of years ago with a high paid aging roster with little or no positive results. GM Brian Burke made some outstanding trades and draft picks for some up and comers, and now were hanging onto some most excellent players, ie) Bertuzzi, Naslund, Jovanoski, Sedin twins, King, Morrison, Ohlund.........., Wings are still an excellent team but your right they look real tired some nights.
