UTC Will Now Host Your Signature Banners!

Unite has generously offered to allow folks to link to their banners posted here at UTC!


This is an awesome way for everyone to have a nice banner in their sig. without having to upload them to webspace.


There are, however, certain conditions we would like everyone to follow.


You must have at least 30 posts
You must post at least every 30 days
The banners must conform to UTC Rules (no larger than 468 X 125 pixels and no more than 30 kilobytes in size.
If you are linking to your banner from another forum, you must link back to UTC (see below for the code)
We reserve the right to delete any banner we find to be in violation of UTC rules or for any other reason, we host banners solely at our discretion



In order to link to a banner posted in this forum you must obtain the url where the banner is located. This is easy with Netscape and I assume Mozilla, just right click> copy image location. I usually save this address to notepad till I am done with it, just open notepad and paste.


In IE it is slightly different, you have to right click on the image>go to properties> highlight the Address(url) and copy.


Once you have the url you go to your user control panel and go to Edit Profile> Signature. In the box you would enter the copied location


If you are using your banner at another site you will need to link back to UTC. To do this follow the instructions as above, but instead of the previous code you will need to enter; linklocation (http://www.unitethecows.com/)linklocation


Of course you would put the link location of the banner between the .


OK, Cows, that's it. This thread is for posting banners you want to link to, or post any questions/comments you may have about this. You may also link to banners located in other threads as well. I want to point out that we do not allow remote linking to pictures posted at UTC. This is for hosting signature banners only! You may however link to the thread they (pictures) are located in.

Yup, no problem. This thread is to announce the perk and to set the rules. Also to give people a place to post their banner to link from it.


You can link from another thread if you like. It is easier to just link to the banner from where it is originally posted than to post it again.

Some folks are having problems concerning their "Signatures" not showing up. Not really sure why, maybe something in the VB Code. Anyway, I had the same problem and after trying a few things I got it to work.

I originally posted this fix/workaround (or whatever you want to call it) in the Admin Forum a few days ago, but wanted to make sure it really did work to correct the problem. So far so good, so I'll post what I did here for the rest of our members.

Ok, this worked for me. When I tried to attach a sig, it said it was there, however, it did not show up.


This is what I did to get it to work.

1. To host the sig on UTC....

2. Go to "Brushes and Paints" thread "UTC Will Now Host Your Signatures and Banners"....

3. Post a new reply and attach your sig and "MAKE SURE" that the "Show Signature" option is CHECKED!

4. Copy the URL address, then go to UserCP, and paste the URL in the UserProfile box "Signature" adding the appropriate image tags.

5. Then go to EditOptions in the UserCP and make sure that the "Show Signatures" option is set on "Yes".

NOTE: All this still did not work, even though I followed the orginal instructions. The remainder below, got it to work.

6. This might not be necessary, however, just to be safe, I logged out, cleared my cookies and internet cache and then logged back in. I checked the UserCP and all the settings were holding as I checked them before logging out.

7. I then went to a random thread and posted a new reply and then made sure that the "Show Signature" option on that reply was checked. Submitted the reply and it WORKED!

NOTE: Its seems that my default settings were not kicking in for some reason. I did mange to get my sig to show up on an "old" post" prior to doing the above actions, but I had to edit the old post (the "Show Signature" was not enabled on any of my old posts.) After doing that, the sig would show up for just that single post.

NOTE: After, doing the steps in 6 & 7, the sig now shows up automatically for each NEW post. However, any old posts I made still does not show the sig unless I manually edit the old post and check the "Show Signature" option.

Yes it is. Leatherface is a good guy, and has done some really cool skins for the members of our clan.

Thank you. Its a lot of Practice and experimenting. Get familiar with what every thing does, and look for plugins to add to the program you are using. A lot of the time, just goofing off you can make something that makes you sit back and say "wow, now thats kicks ass".

What size are you allowed to have on this board? It is important to find out as many forums have restrictions on size. Just ask the admin or mod there, they should be happy to tell you.
Even avatars have different size restrictions on different forums.
I'd be happy to play around with some for you, but the pros are NC, 8, PB, Nitnay, DC, well a lot of people here. I've only actually made them for myself.
