If everything else is as cheap as gas where you live my friend, I would seriously consider emigrating (LOL).:hmmm:
Lets see... the price of gas where I live is around 1,1 Euro (about $1.4)
Assuming that a galon is 4.5 liters (not so sure about that though) then the price of a galon of gas in Greece is (4.5)X1.4=$6.3 :saywha: (219% more expensive)
If you think $2.89 a galon sucks... then what do you have to say about $6.3...??? (Big Sigh)
Working 30% more, while beeing paid 25% less than the average American and paying at least 40% more for the same goods/services aint fun at all me thinks!!!

ok here i found out some info yesterday that the Australian government charges 48 cents in dollar per litter for petrol but when the government was introducing gst thay said that thay would drop the fuel excise which is 38 cents per litter but thay haven't if that were too it would drop the price off petrol too 90cents a litter but thay can still have there gst which is roughly 10 per litter after all the lies it is said that Jhon howard will probably still win the next election

but will it ever come back down ???????????????????????
I acutally don't think so. I think that, if anything, the price will always go up. It might stablize at some point, but I'm not sure. It seems to me that the total amount of crude oil is only dropping, so at some point, this stuff is going to be worth its weight in gold.
comrvf
08-17-2006, 02:48 AM
true true my friend ive looked in to it and there is many a difrent view on the supject some say that we only have 20-50 years left of crude supply and some say 10 who knows or is it just a big control maybe we should send bakedon on a mission

well, it's been a while since this thread has been updated. We're still hovering around 2 bucks a gallon.
I heard on NPR today that the price per barrel is still going down, but the oil companies still are recording very high earnings. I don't really care about their earnings as long as the prices don't go up here. Course, I'd really prefer to have some sort of renewable fuel...
anyone working on that?
tiremonkey2000
10-27-2006, 07:36 PM
Our prices have actually gone up from 2.07 too 2.11 in some places. and yes they have been working on a hybrid fuel but i can't seem to find the wedsite, but i will keep looking.

How are you getting there? It'd be easier to be seen BEFORE you hit Chicago.
mathmission
11-13-2006, 02:54 PM
That's very true, but the problem with that is that I'll have 4 other people that are very eager to get to Chicago. We are catching a 3:37 train in Geneva into Chicago, so taking a pit stop will not be easy. I think we're taking 55 or something. I'm not quite sure as to the route yet. Probably won't be able to catch up with you guys this time, but I do plan to return some time by myself; might make for an easier meet.
Carrie
11-13-2006, 07:20 PM
Yeah MM I think that it would make for a much easier meeting. Once in Chicago the chances of us running into each other would be slim to none, even being at the same location. LOL
Let us know the next time you are going and we can meet you and go catch a show or hit a few museums...and bars.
mathmission
11-15-2006, 10:34 AM
Agreed. I'm partial to a lot of Chicago food. We're headed to (gonna spell this wrong, not even going to try) Geodannos (I know that's wrong, but I'm sure you know what it is) the first night we're there. Then for dinner the next night, we're going to Sal and Carabbos (A brazillian all you can eat meat place, 45 bucks a plate.) Probably have Lowry's for lunch that day.
But yeah, I'll let you know the next time I'm through. I try to come up once every now and then. We need to meet some time.

mathmission

Yeah, I read about that. I wonder how many people will participate with that. I don't really think that it'll cause the industry to lower their prices. If anything, in a supply and demand world, if the major companies were to lose millions of dollars, wouldn't they just continue the prices? We'll buy their gas regardless, as we are very dependent

1 U.S Gallon (Liquid) = 3,785412 E.U Liters (Liquid)
A Liter of gas in Greece costs an average of 1,10 Euro or $1,485 (US)
(1 EURO = 1,35 USD)
So ... A Gallon of gas in Greece costs ... 3,785412 Liters X 1,485 US dollars per liter .... about $5,63 ($5,97 including state and local taxes, price fluctuations due to local supply and demand, profiteering and so on) or about 95% more than the average US price.
Do you still think that paying $3,25 for a gallon of gas is too much???

Yes this is too bad, when you can just cover the license number with tape, wear a mask of the president, fill her up and drive away with a screech of burning rubber. This is annoying to a high degree. 456765 degrees in fact.
It's £1 per litre here, and we call chips crisps, forewarned etc.
Seriously, that's 7 dollars per gallon. You are lucky. That's why we all walk, they must mix our petrol with some kind of expensive froggy liquer.
Buy an electric car. Plug into powersupply to charge battery, get laughed at, but save money.

Alaskans suffer nation's highest gasoline prices
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - Think you're feeling pain at the gas pump? Consider the residents of Lime Village, Alaska, an isolated Denaina Athabascan Indian community where gasoline prices have hit $8.55 a gallon.
The price is severely curtailing movement around the interior Alaska village, where four-wheelers are sitting idle, said Ursula Graham, administrator for the Lime Village Traditional Council.
"Nobody's going on joy rides, that's for sure," Graham said.
