Here's a not so cool thing. I got passed up for a job position without even being interviewed a second time. What's worse, I had to call up there, and ask what the deal was, and he was all like "Well, you're the first person to know this, but we went ahead and hired someone from within the company."
If you were going to do that in the first place, why adverstise the position, and furthermore, when were you going to contact me about this decision?
Anyone have something similar happen to them?

I did when I was 18. The company I had applied for claimed I had a discrepancy with my application. They checked a reference from another company that claimed I had started work there a year before I actually had. I argued that it was impossible that I had started a year before because I would not have been old enough by law to have began work then. It didn't matter to them and I was passed over for the job that I had experience for for someone with no experience at all. Pissed me off pretty bad and I stopped putting the other business down as a reference because their dates were completely wrong.

Yeah, that sounds pretty annoying. I hate it when references get things screwed up. I mean... of all the times to get something wrong, you know?

Well, here's the deal with work now, I work for the office of extention out of the university, and its my first week, so naturally I have no idea what's going on. Anyway, they're having me go to these regional meetings, not even to take notes, but to just sit there and meet the people, and listen to what they're talking about, to help me learn about the department. Well, the one problem with that is that I was hired on to help one specific person with something, and she's almost never there, and the meetings are full day meetings. I have two in a row, so my second and third day consist of sitting in a conference room with 30 other people, and listen to them debate things I've not ever heard of.

I answered the phone 11 times....
